A change we can believe in?

Lately found a particular advertising piece on TV in some ways recalling the style Barack Obama uses in his speeches.

In California, especially towards San Diego, and Palm Spring, there are a bunch of Casinos. One in particular, the largest casino in the state, has been advertising on television this:

On the TV commercial, you see happy carefree people throwing up their arms in excitement as the slot machines whirl the numbers and symbols to winning combinations. There is upbeat music and a voice-over announces "Up to $200 Free For Just Signing Up."

Actually, it's really a nicely produced, you tend to really like the ad, great looking, and that wonderful promise of $200. when you are short of gambling change.

Sounds interesting? You betcha! All you have to do is sign up as a New Member and you get up to $200. to play for the day? That's what the man said!!

That is exactly what the advertisement says on the television. Doesn't it?

...but what does it really mean!?

Ron Paul hit it on the head. Obama speaks Change and gets the crowds in a swoon over the expectant meanings and dreams of the utterance of that word...Change. But he never defines what he means by Change. Not really. I like the fellow. What's not to like? Grand smile. Great personality. Wonderful skills of oratory.

Now back to this casino ad.

Okay, upon finding some literature on the BIG "up-to-$200- grab" to just sign up as a member...THIS is what it all entails. But you'd never know that from the TV proclamation.

• What they really do is give you $10. to start...for signing up.

• And every $500. dollars you gamble at the casino that day, they give you $25. on your club membership card. That's...$25 for every $500 you gamble.

• If you gamble $1000 on that day, they will give you $50. on your club membership. (Hold on...we have to get 'Up to $200' as the ad promises).

• If you gamble $3,000 dollars, you get ...an additional $100 added to your card. If you gamble $5,000 dollars on that day you sign up, you get...$150. added to your membership card.

• If you gamble $7,000 (that's Seven Thousand Dollars)...on that day you sign up, you get all the way up to a full $200. added to your membership card.

Wait! There's more!!!

• If you are playing the reel/video or slots, the above amount you gamble that day and the amount they add to your New Club Card applies. But not so if you are playing video poker. In that case, in order to get up to that $200. put on your New Club Card for the day you sign up, you must gamble a full $14,000.00 dollars. (Just have to spell it out...that's Fourteen Thousand Dollars!)

• Was "on that day" mentioned? Right! Because you MUST do all that gambling on the day you sign up. Here's how it says it:
"Once you have enrolled for the New Club Card you may play and earn up to $200 til 4AM (the next day).

Now my point is this:

If CHANGE rolls off the lips of Barrack Obama so easily, and the crowds are so entranced, what must all the fine print print look like that really accompanies the great proclamation/advertising of CHANGE?

I'm not saying that McCain is inciting hate, but he's not doing much to speak out against it to his followers.

I am sorry, but if Rev. Warren wants to be exclusionary that is his right. I, for one, am not full of hate for those who want to live their lives with another in a living relationship of support and caring for each other.

This is all about control again. The Christian Churches are so behind this because it gives them an issue to rally around, while discriminating against fellow citizens who only want to be included in the party of loving soul mates. Anyone, gay or straight, who wants to live with another person for life, gets my support and love and best wishes for long life together.

I just do not get it? Why can't the Christians of this world, and some orthodox and conservative Jews, who wrote the laws that the Christians use to establish this anti-gay- marriage position, become smart enough to become a group that reaches out to other PEOPLE who want to love and care for their life partners, certified in a ceremony of dedication and legal responsibility - Civil Marriage. What is the big deal. Only Christians, and those opposing Jews, are able to marry each other in a Civil ceremony?

That sounds like a country club that won't admit Jews because they are DIFFERENT. What are you afraid of? The issue of teaching gay marriage in schools is not an issue, and what about single parents who raise their kids, are not they also DIFFERENT?

Please stop this hate filled message from distorting the positive attempts by two individuals to join together and support each other in life through a Civil ceremony that governs the equal rights of all citizens to join as couples.

If Christians want an exclusive right to marry only a Man and a Woman, then issue the appropriate Marriage certificate that so states within your own Church. Refuse, as you may choose, to marry any but a Man and a Woman in your Religious ceremony. Admit no people into your religious flock that don't meet this test.

But, leave Civil Marriage to the rest of us, who do not share your right to that exclusivity. Religion should have no interest in Civil Marriage laws. Be restrictive in your own controlled environment. In this case, just because you may be in the majority, does not mean you are RIGHT to forbid others who do not share your views from having the same CIVIL RIGHTS that you have now.
