What short story has the specific remark or idea regarding "this life, and being human" is at once so ultimately sad and so very funny as to make you or whomever he was writing about scream I think it was or shout out maybe The point being that it is both ways at the same time.

Doug, sounds like a larva, or caterpillar, waiting to blossom. Just finished reading a story with my class called Butterfly House, but that was by Eve Bunting, not Ray.
