Darling Michael,

So what's Norway, or whatever the hell country you've come from, done in the last, oh, few centuries to help others? What do you know about America other than what you've read?

I'd laugh at you, except that I can tell you're really serious...which makes you pathetic, so I *almost* feel sorry for you. You're like a little kid trying to make sense of Shakespeare, then insulting it when you can't understand it. Stick to whatever it is you do over there and keep quiet when the big boys are talking.

listen to you,now is that mature?
I am NOT saying that anybody deserves what happened 9-11,but to say it came out of nothing is just too stupid, even for you!

and what about Nick Berg?

Did it ever occour to you you that he might have been dead before they cut his head off and it might not have been fanatics, but your own guys being forced to do it,so the attention from the prison abuse would get pushed behind?

Michael,

Oh God, NOW it makes sense -- you're a conspiracy-theory wacko...from Denmark.

Now I've seen it all.

And you JUST...GOT...DONE blaming us for the whole thing.

(Michael's quote):"but I dont care about you guys at all or your loss!I dont give a shit cuz people get blown up every day and that never makes the headlines!Oooh, but this is AMERICA ,our ass is getting fried and why,oh why!We never did anything wrong! We are the leaders of the free world!
Up Yours,America!"

And now, after all the terrible things you wrote, you're saying you're NOT blaming us?

You've just discredited yourself in every way possible. Bug off. Then get therapy. Regardless, I doubt we'll be hearing from you again in a few hours. Bye bye, Michael.

"michael'' is really hilarious...only if you stop to think about it.

...This is great theater...

Here's dialog fit for the summer blockbuster movie, ''Beer Party 2004''.

Has it been lost on this possibly fine lad the fact that ...

...many of us come out of his kind of background? We didn't know that.

Ah, at this time in life, have you discovered or seen something no one else has?

There's a long road to go before some realize the saying that '...youth is wasted on the young'.

Hey, michael...

...some of us here have been there, done that. Tell us something we have NEVER heard before. Tell us something we don't already know. Rivet us to our chair with an explanation of things that deserve a medal pinned on you...

...and we'll start listening...

Hey, he's getting his chance. I removed only the most offensive half of his garbage.

"9/11 happened because a bunch of morons felt they had the right and religious duty to murder innocent people. It's a simple as that."

Dont need your medal.

You know,it doesnt really matter, cuz I dont live in your country.Youre the ones whos gotta live with it.

I just cant understand how you can close your eyes, just prooves youve learned nothing from your past..Some never learn.

michael:

Okay! Maybe it is I that is missing something here...

We know that religious fanatics are behind the bombing of the trade towers! As well as the over hundred Americans who died because they had the Playboy channel in that hotel they were at, at least according to some newspaper reports at the time. It was religiously offensive.

So, yes... No medal.

Personally I find porn a great scourge, along with pride... but I'm not going to physically harm anyone. Eventually I reckon THIS country will be so blantantly divided, that a blind man would see the distinction. Shall we say, 'nature itself will take its course'? But none of us reading this may live to that very ripe old age to see it all happen... But it will.

So, what are you going to do? Blow up your body at 300 miles out in space and let the atmospheres carry your parts to all corners of the world as a reminder to all that you hate what's going on... The oceans of societies are too grand, the sweep of life far too confusing and complex. Wars unite in a parallel of beliefs.. which is... I must survive!

Since even Christ said we will always have wars and rumors of wars, (along with poor people) I wouldn't worry too much. Those bases seem to well covered...

Dandelion --

Do your job. There's hate speech and bad language on this page now, and underage students can read it. Such messages have no place on a board of this type. I say delete them all, even if, for some strange reason, you're still going to allow this nutcase to post.

What do other participants think? We try to be fair here and only delete in cases of blatantly offensive language or actual slander directed at Mr. Bradbury or any members of these forums. This also applies to references to deleted messages (to avoid confusion and further outbreaks of unpleasantness.) We don't want any more screams of censorship to erupt.

I agree. Take the swear words, bigotry and hate speech off. This board has a mission statement, which is to celebrate the writings and life of Ray Bradbury. I don't see swear words, bigotry, and hate speech as being conducive to that mission.

It is also the case that kids/younger students come here for research, and they don't need a lot of what has begun to appear.

There are plenty of shallow, hate sites for people like this.

Dandelion,

Let them scream "Censorship!" all they want, but this forum should be treated like a public school -- you walk into a classroom and start throwing racial slurs and bad language around, and you get suspended or expelled. A line exists, and it's already been crossed. These kids (I suspect Michael is a kid) are hiding behind the censorship issue for all the wrong reasons...blatantly.

I also don't understand why this nut is still allowed to post. He had his chance and he blew it repeatedly.

If you allow posts like Michael's to continue, I'm out of here for good. In fact, hardly any of the posts on this site have ANYTHING to do with Ray Bradbury any longer, and the site is therefore no longer enjoyable to visit, for the most part. Think of what students and researchers are going to have to wade through in order to actually learn something from this site anymore.

Consider what the primary purpose of this bulletin board is for -- look at the big picture -- then consider how allowing bad posters to continue will ultimately degrade that purpose until no one wants to visit this site at all.

Things are REALLY starting to go downhill. It's a moderator's responsibility to stop that from happening.

Of course...
...that is why there was created a "Ruled paper..." topic, in Ray's Legacy... to discuss absolutely miscellaneous stuff.

I totally agreer with Mr. Dark, Cooger ... others...to "let them yell censorship !"

In scripture, when people turned to the Lord, they burned all their scrolls of idolatry. What a censoring bonfire that must have been...

I try to reason with some of these people, so does Mr. Dark, and others. But there MUST be a boundary on THIS site here that says, this far, no more...

I'm with Nard: this kind of discussion is perfect for the "Ruled Paper" thread. If there's some way to tone down the vitriol/obscenity of the poster, by all means, do it, but I'm all for deleting the posts entirely. Censorship? Hardly. Let 'em set up their own site for free at blogger.com and blather away.

I disagree with Cooger and Dark, though. Not all of the posts lately have been of this sort. This is still a useful site for students and fans and the clear subject lines of the threads should direct them to where they want to go. Subjects like
"9-11," however, should imply that there's a possibility of strong, but civil, debate a'brewin'. When the debate is no longer civil, I think Dandelion has full authority to yank the plug.

Best,

Pete
