"Haiku" is what I was looking for.

Never heard of a "kigo" except for when the drunk after a long night is reeling on his doorstep fumbling in his pockets and slurs, "Where'd the kigo?"

It's a type of Japanese poetry used to evoke a particular season.

Hmmm. at the risk of rabbit-trailing, are kigos similarly structured syllabically, and do you have any English examples?

I fear I do not - I don't really know that much about the subject.
