I've viewed/listened to all three above. (His discussion with Merv Griffith should be required viewing by our politician. Coast to Coast (great radio listening) always recognized Mr. Bradbury's literary and social importance. Then, UFOTV, RB from the deepest depths of The Depression to the greatest writer in American Literature. Common sense and hard work are valuable commodities these days. "Huh!")

I truly enjoyed the final exchange in the UFOTV clip. Mr. Bradbury is commenting on his fifty year friendship with Arthur C. Clarke and then suddenly recalls having the book entitled Mars and the Mind of Man ("I think I have it here somewhere. It's a great book. Yeah!")

The Ray Bradbury Board is the most active location of "Things Bradbury!" Thus, is it not our duty to pass it on, as Mr. Bradbury always did with us? Though available on various sites (randomly presented), a specific location for very special Ray Bradbury audios and videos seems an appropriate action to take in honor of Mr. Bradbury: his life, philosophies, friendships, public recognitions, and simply masterful moments.

Could a little heat via letters to Frank Darabont stir things up? A search through old "remake F451" posts reveals we have bantered the topic on board since '02.

This 6/6/12 article presents a 2001 interview with Mr. Bradbury. The tone, even back then, sadly warned of another "getting off the path" dilemma lurking in the shadows.

My comment of "fifteen year" was not far off.
RE-from Wiki: "Gibson had long planned to direct a remake of Fahrenheit 451, but in 1999 the project was indefinitely postponed because of scheduling conflicts."

There was a time when Frank Darabont was saying that F451 would be his next movie... but then he got a bit sidetracked with the TV series THE WALKING DEAD. I imagine that took up 25 hours of each of his working days.

From Ray's comments in his final years, I gather that Gibson still owns/owned the option on the film, although I saw something to the effect that the option runs out around 2015 (disclaimer: this is from memory, and not totally reliable).

Sad though it may be, one might think that Ray's passing would trigger interest in making his best-known book into a film, and since there are several scripts out there (including Darabont's), one might think that it would be relatively quick, cheap and easy to do.

Hollywood, however, has never been known for its logic or common sense.
