We shook his friendly and creative hand fourteen years ago, right about at this very hour! How magical Ray Bradbury Occurrences and Moments have always been and still remain! Happy 103, Mr. Bradbury!

Happy 98th birthday to film director and producer Roger Corman! While Mr. Corman is perhaps best known for his 1960's series of Edgar Allan Poe adaptations (often scripted by Richard Matheson), his finest film is arguably THE INTRUDER. That film has been previously mentioned on this Board. The screenplay of THE INTRUDER was by Ray Bradbury's close friend Charles Beaumont, and based on Mr. Beaumont's fine novel. The film starred William Shatner, with writers William F. Nolan, George Clayton Johnson and Charles Beaumont himself in supporting roles. In honor of Mr. Corman's birthday, I am posting the link below, which will take you to a discussion between William Shatner and Roger Corman about the making of the film:

Yes, indeed! 8-22-20 ~ Waukegan, Illinois! A day that has long been celebrated and will continue to be as long as pages are turned!
Our upcoming travels have the Ray Bradbury Center at IUPUI logged-in for a return visit a few days from now.

*Ironically, while speaking with two well-read young boys earlier this evening, the titles Dandelion Wine, Golden Apples of the Sun, and Illustrated Man were tossed their way. They truly seemed quite interested!
Once again, Thank you, Mr. Bradbury!

Happy 77th birthday to Ray Bradbury admirer (and huge Chicago Cubs fan!) Joe Mantegna, who was born on November 13, 1947. A Chicago native, Mr. Mantegna of course starred in the fine Disney film version of THE WONDERFUL ICE CREAM SUIT:

Happy 75th birthday to actor Bill Nighy, who was born on December 12, 1949. While Mr. Nighy has appeared in a variety of roles, Ray Bradbury fans probably best remember him for the role of Edmund Brundish, the Bradbury-admiring reader who special orders Ray's books from a small local bookseller in the fine 2017 film, THE BOOKSHOP:

Happy 88th birthday to actress Margaret O'Brien, born on January 15, 1937. What is Ms. O'Brien's connection to Ray Bradbury? She starred, at age 11, in the radio version of "The Screaming Woman", broadcast on the SUSPENSE radio show on Thanksgiving, 1948:
