In the entertainment field, maybe yes! But looking over the obit section in the paper yesterday, some 12 famous people died, in astronomy, business, and chemistry.

I have been studying at Ali Akbar Khan's school since 1984, although I did not study with him, but with the tabla master there. His passing has hit us very hard, a vast trove of Indian history and culture has been lost with his passing.

I have gone to so many concerts over the years, I didn't think too much that one day I would not be able to see Khansahib and my teacher playing together any more. Now I treasure those memories.

Amazing, but Sky Saxon was still touring. And as eccentric as ever. Maybe this YOUTUBE video will spark an even greater familiarity with his music for the older generation on this site:

He obviously paid no attention to Natasha Richardson's fate. Please, people, don't ignore a head injury!

Dandelion, you are so correct and I would bet, although I am not betting person, that the autopsy on Billie Mays, will reveal excessive amounts of blood in his skull. All passengers should have been checked out by doctors at the insistance of the airline.

Gale Storm...I have happy memories of watching THE GALE STORM SHOW (aka, OH, SUSANNAH) as a youngster. You're right, embroiderer, where did the years go?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/...51.html?hpid=topnews

But the actress on that show that really brought a smile to my face, and probably the reason I remember it so well, was Miss Storm's co-star, the late Zasu Pitts...I can still hear her saying: "Oh, dear! Oh, my!"
