Greetings to all who are still here. First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your kindness and patience with me in all I described in this thread while going through one of the worst times in my life! Plenty of groups would have raked me over the coals, which I could name but won't right now. But possibly see below.

I am reviving this old thread to make some updates. On some forums this would be called a "zombie thread," but I feel old threads never die, they just go into suspended animation.

Regarding Being On Topic

We all know Ray Bradbury is the center of the universe and just about everything relates to him in some way. His connection to Buster Keaton is that when Ray was selling newspapers, Keaton was one of his customers. I tried to get an answer from Ray, who was communicating through his daughter at that point, saying anything about Keaton, but all I heard was that he liked Keaton but preferred the comedy of Harold Lloyd.

About What I Said About How I'd Respond When my mom passed away

As I posted under "The Leave-Taking," Mom passed away on April 17, 2024. She struggled with dementia for several years before her passing. Personally I think it's better if loss is gradual and you have a chance to get used to it. She was still always glad to see me. We are in the middle of our first holiday season without Mom. Thanksgiving out of the way and Christmas still to go. The first New Year without Mom.

Other People Who Passed Away

My friend who jokingly told me at the New Year's service that I was bad passed away in 2013. My uncle who lived with us and my friend who was such a help around the house both passed away in 2014.

About the Books I mentioned writing

I never wrote one about Buster Keaton, maybe because I believe in writing about a subject you have to get on that subject's wavelength and channel their energy. I DID, quite some years ago, write a book for children aged 10-15 about Ray Bradbury. I showed it to several people. One of them knew William F. Nolan and had him read it, and I received a very kind letter from Mr. Nolan stating he liked my book better than the official biography. In my own extremely humble (ha) opinion it knocks the other juvenile books on Ray out of the park and kicks them around the block. Trouble is, I could never get anyone to consider publishing it! It contains many quotes as I believed using Ray's own words is vital, and it will need pictures. I need a publisher who would be able to handle negotiating permission for these things, plus I fear self-publishing would cause people not to take my work seriously, that's why I won't do it.

About Going into Counseling

I went into counseling in December 2013 due to a family situation and have been in it ever since.

Regarding Buster Kitten

I still have him! He turned 13 on September 4. Pictures to follow.

Here are two recent pictures of Buster Kitten. For some reason they are huge but at least they showed up.

Okay, part of the reason for bumping up this thread was to make an update and part was to make an admission. Somewhere in there I wrote how before discovering Buster Keaton I VOWED AND SWORE I would NEVER like anything or anyone new EVER again! I would just stick with Ray Bradbury and my other older interests. Well, after the torture, and reading through this thread again, yes I mean TORTURE, inflicted by Buster Keaton's fans, I did the same thing again, even more emphatically.

I am here to make a confession. I kept this solemn vow for thirteen years until this year, again in October, I was surprised by another famous individual, also someone I'd been aware of since childhood but had no particular strong interest in. What I am going to do for fun is post a picture of this person and let people guess who it might be for awhile before I give a name or say anything about this person.

We all know everything connects to Ray Bradbury at some point and yes so does this person. Photo below.

Looks like I'll have to repost the above photo but first here is another precious one of Buster Kitten.

So to my extreme disappointment nobody made a guess on the above black-and-white portrait; I don't know if anyone even saw it. I think it's been up long enough so I will reveal that it is a picture of Vincent Price in 1935, three years before he started in movies. I started watching his work in October and haven't stopped. I really like him a lot. So far no one has given me a serious problem about this.

Now, here is a strange detail in the below picture. This is when I met Ray Bradbury the second time and I am pointing to him in the picture. Directly above my head is a book, The Keys of the Kingdom. Not only did Ray give his readers the keys to so many kingdoms, but Vincent Price was in the movie! I was of course not at all into Vincent Price when this picture was taken; as a matter of fact I wasn't into Buster Keaton yet! So what are the odds?
