As of now through the efforts of 400 firefighters the structure has been saved from total destruction but is still burning. It is the end of an eight-century era! Who can forget the wonderful scenes of the historic and iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree? Here is an image of a Bradbury-owned copy of the original Joseph Mugnaini pen and ink illustration of Pipkin ensconced with a gargoyle. This message has been edited. Last edited by: dandelion,

Scenes from the Emmy Award Winning 1993 animated feature, as follows: Moundshroud helps raise the cathedral: The four trick-or-treaters create the steps: Pipkin finds himself part of the structure: The trick-or-treaters escape on gargoyles: Thanks to fellow fan Robert Gaines, who, thinking along the same lines, uploaded this clip to YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24WovZxwxts

And, of course, Ray was deeply influenced by the Lon Chaney movie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Ray was also great friends with Charles Laughton, who starred in the 1939 remake, and Ray was born just five days after Maureen O'Hara who played Esmeralda. I have said often that everything in the universe relates to Ray. Experts estimate it will take 10-15 years to restore and rebuild the cathedral which is fast work if they can do that.
