DS, great article and so well deserved! Will you be on hand for the actual dedication 11/24, on FA's 100th bd celebration!?
What was Mr. Ackerman's favorite type of pie?

Since it's a federal holiday, I might be!

You know, of all the times we went to the House of Pies, I never saw him order pie! His lunch/supper selections were eclectic - like he would order spaghetti or fried chicken with split pea soup (the secret he told me, was that you had to split the peas just right), and a chocolate milk.

Coming soon! A documentary 20 years in the making! (Almost)

“Before Comic-Con, there was Forry.”

From fan to fandom… the man who turned imagination into a movement.

FORREST J. ACKERMAN: BRIDGE TO METROPOLIS is an intimate portrait of Forrest J Ackerman—the pioneering fan, editor, and cultural force who helped shape modern science fiction.

As the guiding spirit behind Famous Monsters of Filmland, Ackerman inspired generations of filmmakers, writers, and artists, bridging the gap between fandom and the industry itself. Through candid interviews with Ackerman and those he influenced—including Ray Bradbury, John Landis, Joe Dante, and Daniel Roebuck—the film reveals how one man’s boundless curiosity and generosity sparked a creative legacy that continues to resonate today.

Both a personal reflection and a cultural history, this documentary celebrates the power of imagination—and the community it creates.

His legacy lives wherever stories bring us together.

Congratulations on your achievement!

It's really funny you should mention this now as I just watched Hooray for Horrorwood on YouTube last night and was going to ask about your documentary.
