Hello all! I'm new to the site but an old fan of Ray. I teach 11th and 12th grade English at a public, urban school in San Diego. I teach on a block schedule which basically means I have the same students 90 minutes a day for 18 weeks. I have 3 more weeks with my current students. I'm going to do a unit on Ray's stories. I'm going to use "The Veldt", "The Pedestrian" and "The Rains Come Soft". I'm going to have them write an analysis of what he's predicting in the stories and then perhaps have them do some research to see if any of those predictions have come true! Next semester I plan on teaching F451 after this unit. I want to study the theme of indifference/bystander effect. I have some ideas about what I want to do as a final paper/assessment, but I would love to hear about things that others have done. This is my 1st year teaching, so I'm stealin' all I can. Thanks!

Teach: Welcome aboard! I have been offering RB titles for many years, grades 9-12. If there is some way to get materials, notes, lessons, etc. to you, I would be pleased to be able to "pass it on!" This is the place to be to stay right up to date on "anything" RB and related! We just finished F451, Illustrated Man, and selected others from Golden Apples of the Sun, and Stories of Ray Bradbury. (Add. files: DW, SWTWC, MC, countless s.s. and articles). We generally"semester": 20 weeks/83mins. daily but also "block" full year for honors classes: 40 weeks/43 mins. I do both. (RE: If interested, is there a school website through which a contact might be made? We are quite considerate of one another's privacy at this RB Site. So, if there is a preferred option, please indicate.) f
