spookmizu, welcome to the Board! There is not much information currently available about the upcoming Subterranean Press edition of DARK CARNIVAL, and what extra "bells and whistles" it might contain. However, as soon as any additional information becomes available, I will try and post it here.

The Subterranean Press edition is out and its quite beautiful, vastly superior to the Gauntlet book in terms of design execution. The Subterranean edition includes all the same added stories including TIME INTERVIENING, which was a bonus "chapbook" with the Gauntlet book.

The new book appears to be out of print on publication, and is already up on eBay over $500.00.

Carcosa, I also received today my copy of the Subterranean Press edition of DARK CARNIVAL, and agree it is a very beautiful book. I was not sure I really needed another edition of Ray's collection but given the quality of the book and Dave McKean's illustrations, I couldn't resist.

As for whether copies are still available from the publisher, I note that the book has vanished from the Subterranean website, despite the fact it usually retains a page devoted to each book it publishes even after it is sold out. If someone wants a copy of DARK CARNIVAL and has not yet purchased it, it would probably be worthwhile to periodically check the Subterranean website to see if any remaining copies are offered. Also, there is supposed to be a 26-copy lettered edition published in the future, but Subterranean has not yet taken any orders for it...and it will certainly be far more expensive than the 750-copy numbered edition!

As a follow-up to my posting above, the page devoted to DARK CARNIVAL has re-appeared on the Subterranean Press website, and the numbered edition is noted as being out of print. With respect to the lettered edition, it states, "We're not yet ready to begin taking orders for the lettered edition. We'll send out a notice when we are."

Good news for those who wanted a copy of the Subterranean Press release of Ray Bradbury's DARK CARNIVAL and were disappointed when the website indicated to book had sold out. In its newsletter today, Subterranean announced that with the initial wave of orders for the 750-copy edition having been filled, there are copies still available at the original issue price of $225 (meaning you won't have to pay those ridiculously high prices being asked by dealers on eBay).
