Happy 95th ~ Mr Bradbury!!!!

We have returned from an amazing trip to The Center for Ray Bradbury Studies in Indianapolis. The adventure covered 2000 miles and, ironically, had us unlocking our back door in return at precisely "midnight" of 8/22/15 ~ A classic and treasured Bradbury Moment!

The work of Dr. Jon Eller is historic and enlightening. The location of the archives on the campus of IUPUI is already influencing everyone who is connected with the project's development and those who come to experience Dr. Eller's great displays and lectures related to RB - from his youth to years as a promising (and searching) author to his status as one of literature's most influential and visionary writers.

Six years ago today in LA we shared time and celebrated with Mr. Bradbury. Today, I will do the same. I am on my way to read a few RB tales, this time surrounded by the yellow-red-orange hues now splashed across our garden's plants and throughout the trees our NNY neighborhood.

Our sincere thanks are extended to Professor Eller and his welcoming and very friendly IU associates.

(Phil, Nice RB images above. "Extra batteries" Indeed! Thanks for the advice.)

If one wished to raise a glass to Ray today may I suggest it be a pineapple malted, which was Ray's favorite.

The "Mick!" Oct. 20, 1931

Ahh! Those wonderful summer afternoons and late nights, watching the b&w television screen or listening in bed to my transistor radio. Simpler days, grass-stained knees, cold glasses of lemonade, having fun in the neighborhood... treasured images!

Nobody writes like Prine. Nobody. Here's one for Veterans Day yesterday. And one more for good measure! Peace and love.

Metaphoric Musical Magic! Like RB, listening to the way the words play off from one another is so important. While in the classroom it was always such so rewarding to see some eyes look up and have a sparkle of understanding when the not so obvious was becoming apparent in young minds. Unfortunately, today the demand for common interpretations (or reiteration) has begun to create TOO MUCH OF THIS:

While in the classroom, it was always so rewarding to see some eyes look up with a sparkle of understanding when the not so obvious was becoming somewhat apparent to young minds. Unfortunately, today the demand for common interpretations (or reiterations) has begun to create TOO MUCH of the scene in F451:
