I have recently produced a musical workshop of Ray's The Martian Chronicles (with Ray's permission). Now the time has come to do a full production and I would love to do it in L.A. as a tribute to Mr. Bradbury, one of the great writers in history. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this something that Ray would like...not like?

A musical workshop?

Yes. I wrote a musical adaptation of The Martian Chronicles and produced a high school workshop here in Virginia. My hope is to put on a full production in L.A. in honor of Mr. Bradbury.

We're talking about an author who has tackled operatic adaptations of Fahrenheit 451 and Leviathan 99, so it sounds the kind of thing he ought to like! But there's only one way to find out: ask him!

The July, 2012 issue of LOCUS magazine has a lengthy article on Ray's passing, and accompanying tributes by some of his friends, including William F Nolan.

The article in Locus includes a part of Harlan Ellison's tribute to Ray, which is also to be included as an afterword to his story in Shadow Show.

For anyone that may be interested, the August, 2012 issue of LOCUS magazine has additional Ray Bradbury tributes and appreciations, including the re-printing of his daughter Susan's eulogy that she read at his funeral service.

Film scholar John C. Tibbetts, who has written on Ray's work several times, penned a personal tribute to Ray for the newsletter of the LITERATURE-FILM ASSOCIATION back in July of last year.
