Tribute to Ray.

StendhalTribute to Ray.
I have recently produced a musical workshop of Ray's The Martian Chronicles (with Ray's permission). Now the time has come to do a full production and I would love to do it in L.A. as a tribute to Mr. Bradbury, one of the great writers in history. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this something that Ray would like...not like?

StendhalYes. I wrote a musical adaptation of The Martian Chronicles and produced a high school workshop here in Virginia. My hope is to put on a full production in L.A. in honor of Mr. Bradbury.

philnicWe're talking about an author who has tackled operatic adaptations of Fahrenheit 451 and Leviathan 99, so it sounds the kind of thing he ought to like! But there's only one way to find out: ask him!

fjp451Dandelions are showing their greens. "Play ball!" has been exclaimed.
Buds budding on all of the North Country trees. Rivers running full from the mountains to some unseen sea.
Time to turn some pages of the Magician's Green Town Tales!

Locus includes a part of Harlan Ellison's tribute to Ray, which is also to be included as an afterword to his story in
Shadow Show.

RichardFor anyone that may be interested, the August, 2012 issue of LOCUS magazine has additional Ray Bradbury tributes and appreciations, including the re-printing of his daughter Susan's eulogy that she read at his funeral service.

RichardI don't know if anyone has ever posted this link before, but the website of the Lake County, Illinois News-Sun newspaper has a collection of photos of Ray, many taken during visits to Waukegan and some of which I had not seen before. To access the photos, click on the link below. Next to the first photo of Ray, there is an arrow pointing to the right. Simply click on that arrow (and continue to do so) to see the rest of the photo gallery.

philnicFilm scholar John C. Tibbetts, who has written on Ray's work several times, penned a personal tribute to Ray for the newsletter of the LITERATURE-FILM ASSOCIATION back in July of last year. It doesn't seem to have been mentioned here previously, so here's a link (you will need to go to page 3 for the article, "Ray Bradbury's Good Companions"):
