most definitely!

She stood silently looking out into the great sallow distances of sea bottom, as if recalling something, her yellow eyes soft and moist...

Jayne, I too, also understand your disappointment. When I last visited my son, who lives south of L.A., I had called Ray and he said to stop by at 4:00 PM on Saturday. But my daughter-in-law was still nursing our new granddaughter, and the round trip would be too long. I called Ray to see if Sunday would work, but alas, he had people coming in from New York, and so it wouldn't work out.

Of course, the primary reason for our trip was to see my son and his family. The bonus was to see Ray, but I have been to his four times before, but now my son is thinking about moving to Minnesota (where my eldest daughter lives) so I will have to go to California just to see Ray, if I were to go in the future, although I do have a cousin out there as well.

Thanks biplane, The fact that you know Mr. Bradbury personaly still astounds me, but I guess I've had a bit of hero worship since my early teens. I'm sorry your trip didn't workout as planned either. I kind of thought of this as my only chance to see him speak in person. The fact that I actully made it out there givin my current circumstances is, to be honest, a bit of a feat in itself. Enough about that, How are you doing? You let me know if there is anymore trickey chocolate math out there, I'm your guy. Smiler

Thank you Jayne for your kind words. I can only thank another well known author, Richard Bach of Jonathan Livingston Seagul et. al. fame, who was my neighbor many years ago in Ottumwa, Iowa for introducing me to Ray. I had been reading his stories for a while and Richard gave me his address so that I could write him a note which I did and he responded.

Elsewhere on this website are posts with more details dealing with my association with Ray. But it was 39 years ago that I first met him, probably more years ago than you are old.

For the heck of it I am posting a couple of photos for your interest. Oooops, can't do it here. I have to wait until I am at home at my own computer.

Ah, the neatness of technology and the capability to make a change or an addition to a post.

Here is the photo from 1996.

Also notes from Ray from several years ago. As it turned out I wasn't able to make that trip.
