Vroman's bookstore in Pasadena is where I met Ray for the first time. I was there to get his signature on the first large short story anthology in 1980. Very cool encounter, but I was quite tongue-tied. He approached me before the signing (I had gotten there way early and was holding my book waiting for the line to form). He tapped me on the back and asked if I was there for the Bradbury signing. When I turned around, it was him. He chatted with me, and signed my book, so I wouldn't have to wait in line. Very, very nice guy.
