Hi- I'm looking for the name of a short story about puppets I read in the early 80s. I remember a man talking with various people/animals/creatures, perhaps at night and while sitting around a campfire, and during their conversation one by one they all "died," revealing they were just a puppet being manipulated by someone nearby. It ends, I think, with the very last character (a donkey?) slumping "lifeless" to ground, leaving you to wonder who was controlling HIS body. Very cool and creepy. I believe it was in a book of short stories of irony by various authors. Was this a Bradbury tale? It's from over 30 years ago and though I remember other stories from the book, I cannot identify it on any book search page. Thank you!

Hi RedBluebell, and welcome.

I don't recognise the story from that description, and I would say that it's almost certainly NOT a Bradbury story: it just doesn't sound like anything he would have written!

Maybe someone else will recognise it.

Thank you, Phil. I realize I'm grasping at straws here...I hope someone recognizes the story.
Nice FB page!

I'm going to go with 100% not Bradbury on this, and advise you try with it and the other story descriptions here: http://forums.abebooks.com/dis...uthreg/abesleuthcom?
