During the Darkest Days of my Youth I found R is for Rocket inside a bookmobile. From the first paragraph I read I witnessed my black and white world explode into brilliant color! From that moment Ray Bradbury saved, protected, transported, astounded, challenged, inspired & freed me with his wonderful prose, love & imagination. I was fortunate to hear him speak in Fresno in 1974 when he regaled us with those many special stories of his life from Mr. Electrico, to John Huston and Moby Dick. His most resonant words of that day for me were, "I've never worked a day in my life! If what you do is what you love it is never work, but joy." RIP, Good Sir! | |||
