Click away. . . and post up if one found seems especially "poignant" ~ https://duckduckgo.com/?sites=...etica&q=ray+bradbury Here is one with "the author in the back of a car while he and a couple of journalism students were making their way from Bradbury’s West L.A. home to Chapman College in Orange County where he was slated to give a lecture." http://www.openculture.com/201...-to-be-a-writer.html

So, after a couple of journeys into the Adirondack Mts. and a subsequent recovery of several old collections of classic works (by Poe, Stevenson, Bronte Sisters, Dumas, Dickens, Kipling, Austen, Cooper and a few others), some contacts with a "True" Book Person ~ located in the woods, well organized, with many years of literary experience brought about a rewarding outcome: https://birchbarkbookshop.wordpress.com/ https://birchbarkbookshop.wordpress.com/about/ A few sets were preserved enough for planned artistic refurbishing by Mr. Strong, BBB curator. Others will be repaired (to some degree) so as to be shared with a local home schooling organization . . . and then passed on to other families for additional reading! The books have received a reprieve from the firemen, the elements, the dust, and passing of times forgotten. These collections sat for decades on the shelves of a century old lodge, hidden behind paperback novels, knickknacks, and piles of board games. The covers alone are worth respectful moments of contemplation: http://www.resourcebooks.net/s...e/product/033083.JPG http://www.hordern.com/pictures/3609616_03.jpg ---------------------------------------------------- "We are a minority of undesirables crying out in the wilderness!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCaLf7fA07w Thanks, Mr. Bradbury! What a pleasure to have gathered up some old friends for their further celebrations. . .

. . . an ironic (and logical) follow up: https://www.yahoo.com/travel/t...303689784279094.html

TCM ran The Phantom Tollbooth on Thanksgiving which I had not seen in at least twenty years. I couldn't help noticing that as Milo runs to the Castle in the Air, steps are before him which disappear the moment he steps off, in other words exactly opposite of what happens at the Notre Dame Cathedral in The Halloween Tree, and as we know from the Psychology Today article, both were being developed at the same time. Interesting....

Sent to the only three people I could think of who I know, who know Russian: Today I received a mystery package of unknown origin and portents. The only thing I ordered was some mushroom growing kits for my sisters (I know, I know, but they're not giant, not for boys, and not to be grown in a cellar) but this is nothing of the kind! The return address is from the Ukraine. (Editing out sender's name and address.) The contents is a small plastic bag, no label, invoice, or note in any language, containing plant seeds of what appear to be some sort of grain. Before planting any possible giant terror from outer space, I plan to take them to the local extension office and try to determine what they are and what ought to be done with them. I thought I'd contact my Russian-speaking friends for any possible extra insight. Thanks.This message has been edited. Last edited by: dandelion,

Have you tried Hank Kimball? "Live Forever!"
|
Nope. | ||||

Mystery solved, it would seem. I checked my Amazon.com order and the seller is indeed in the Ukraine. Wrote them the following: Hey, I ordered two mushroom growing kits as described above. So far what has arrived was one package of something that looks like wheat or large grass seed, with no planting instructions. Are you sure you sent the right thing? Thanks.

Right from the pages of Mr. B's 451 and Pedestrian! RE: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sci...used-smart-taxi.html Now, SEE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...t=PLC727B0653A85EC27 Brilliant! But. . . we all know that! (I always enjoyed the poetic conclusion of this episode with the comment, "Dandelions! Gone to seed.") BTW: A comment from a poster following the UK article reads: "Holy Cow! A flying vehicle that can hold a whole passenger! What will they think of next?"

https://www.oppenheimerfunds.c...merfunds_enlarge.jpg Not quite F451, but nonetheless, the techno-dog sure seems right out of Mr. B's classic images.

I enjoyed the Oppenheimer Funds image with the robo-dog. I was curious to see if the company had any South African connection - but there's none that I can see (in his heyday, Harry Oppenheimer of the De Beers and Anglo American mining companies was one of the world's richest men). No connection with Robert Oppenheimer of Los Alamos either, I'm guessing.

"Amazing" again. This time with authentic photos from the Martian Chronicles: http://www.businessinsider.com...-dune-selfies-2016-2

I actually noticed this last week when first I read this article and viewed the photos. Who took the "Selfies"?! Notice there is no shadow on the ground extending from an arm coming from Curiosity. It is as if a second Visitor was present to click the shots. http://www.businessinsider.com...er-space-nasa-2016-2 I was puzzled but figured there was a techno reason for the discrepancy of the angles presented of Rover. As the video illustrates, after some intricate imaging, the scenes are flawlessly reassembled for viewing. Quite a technique! Or maybe. . . Ylla just happened to be passing by and offered some assistance.
