A few months ago, I sent a letter to Ray and a SASE envelope. I used the publisher's address listed in this message board. He wrote a thanks and a cat drawing and his signature. It was one of the greatest moments in my life. To have my hero write me back. Especially at his age. The whole thing brought tears to my eyes, which hasn't happened since I saw The Passion of the Christ. Last week I found a copy of October Country for 25 cents. The stories inside are incredible. I have about a dozen or so of his books and pick up new ones whenever I see them. Goodwills are great places to find them. Heath

I'd like to hear of another contemporary author affecting a reader, such as 'heathfodor', as greatly as Ray Bradbury. You'll be hard pressed to find such.

heathfoder: Thanks for sharing. I'm 49 and was first introduced to Bradbury in 1969 (9th grade), and he still has a similar impact on me. P.S. I was also moved by Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ". [This message has been edited by Mr. Dark (edited 10-03-2004).]

CONGRATULATIONS! He tends to be selective about what he answers so your letter must have stood out!
