Would the Meth lab awareness be spying, or just awareness? When these things occur, they raise crime rates (violent crime, not just double-parking) and they occasionally cause one heck of an explosion -- potentially destroying one's property and killing one's tenants. I don't personally equate these kinds of awareness programs with big-brother spying.

I should have made it more clear in my post that Arnold was a private citizen at the time of my email. Not that it made any difference to the DA. Mr.Dark did you hear of the Florida newspaper that ran an ad advocating that Bush be put up against a wall and shot!Is it in your opinion that the management of the paper or the parties that paid for the ad should be charged with a making a terrorist threat?Or are the exempt for being a public forum where this is allowed, LIKE A RADIO STATION??? Does the 1st amendment protect them and not ME? Is their defense that it was in all good fun and simple political satire? I made the same statements and look where it got me. Chatrooms and bulletin boards are full of people who are always making mocking threats to one another.Should they also be thrown on a cold jail cell floor Mr. Dark?Or is this par for the course in TEXAS? Are movie stars and politicians to be given more special treatment than the rest of us?Who decides what can be said and not said?Who decides what can be written?WHAT CAN BE READ? WHAT CAN BE THOUGHT?THE GOVERNMENT?What value then is the Constitution? What if Bradbury's 451 is considered to be subversive and a threat to the public, should Ray get a taste of TEXAS JUSTICE Mr.Dark?

Why not? Parson's kids were told in school to spy on their neighbours, and to report any unnatural/potentially disturbing activities. So are the landlords. I see it as a perfect reflection of the 1984 theme. A seperate question is whether the spying is validated, and this is where the devil lies. Cheers, Translator

The old argument to infinity. I don't find it very compelling. You didn't make clear that Arnold was a private citizen at the time you made the threats (if, indeed, you made threats). Look, your post seemed to imply that you had published a threat to a governmental figure (a governor). In the present environment, posting threats against public figures is not political satire -- it's stupidity. If they didn't act on it and you turned out to be dangerous, they would all be condemned for NOT acting on a terrorist threat. In a free society, people need to grow up and be responsible. Threatening persons in public office is not political satire. Where's the wit in that? What's the satiric point? It's simply lazy intellect. If you want to do political satire, do satire. Posting threatening messages requires the IQ of a horse (no offense to horses). Where's the line on censorship? You can't yell "fire" in a public place, and I can't imagine the law let's you openly threaten people. But I'm not an attorney.

My neighbor's kid has multiple times in several months (including one event this week)...said he was going to 'get me', 'kill me', 'send guys to take care of me'...and all said in violent rage, especially this week. Why? It began when I told his uncle he was doing drugs. Right out in the open. Daytime, yet. And so he has been seething for months. And then the uncle comes out and says, '''are you sure?''... when all the while he knows this kid has been in jail for drugs, passenger in a stolen car, and assault. And who knows what else! I went to the police department the first time...and, get this...''they'' made vile remarks against 'me'. If I told you what they said, you'd think I was making it up. Stupid, trash talk, from young, stupid girls in new police uniforms who thought they were really something is what it was. '''THIS''' is what you have to deal with sometimes. Later, I was told I should have just gone over their head and talked to management. But what do you know... when you go to the neighborhood police station to file a complaint? And I discovered that the police also are continuously opened to lawsuits for a variety of things. Well, It's a mess out there! This is big city Chicago. You go to the neighborhood relations meeting (CAPS) and if the neighborhood is 'turning'...they tell the old residents who have been there for 30, 40 years and more... that it's time they better move. Wow! What a strain of mental dexterity did that take? So, why all the banter? :::::twelthnite:::: Someone has to go down to the court, file a complaint, sign their name on the dotted line, and say... '''arrest that man, or that woman'''. In the meantime, the family has your number, and has the time of landing on your head according to their own choosing. If you made a threat against an official...it's gotta be a pretty solid threat I would think to get you landed in the clink. And in the clink for such a length of time. Wow! And if the person is not so official, I would think it still is an uncomfortable process for a person to get landed in that clink. With this in mind, 'twelthnite'... ...are you telling us the '''whole story'''....????

Hey, I've heard there are some pretty crazy laws out there in some states...apparently, for example, firefighters in New York are not allowed to save a woman from a burning house if she is clad only in a bathrobe. Any comment? Cheers, Translator

Translator You made that up! For instance, in the great state of Missouri, it is against the law to sing in public if you disturb anyone who is trying to read.... (I made that one up...)

I haven't! I'll find it again and post the link... Cheers, Translator

The great Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes I believe had the final say on the matter of shouting fire in a crowded theater"...even a dog can tell the difference between being kicked and being stumbled over..." Intent is everything in these affairs. If you yell fire in a newly plowed Iowa corn field does it require the same response from the government? In my opinion the Los Angeles County District Attorney hasn't the common sense of your average Golden Retriever.Trust me on this, my case was politically inspired. An example had to be made and that example was me.My only desire now is to bring the threat of government arrest and prosecution in matters of the internet to light. Obviously, I don't know the specifics. I do know that nothing in my quest for 1st amendment rights has caused me to post a threatening message against or toward anyone else. I don't tie threatening messages to the first amendment or to political satire or to any other reasonable quest or objective. Again, I don't know your specifics, but 100 days of jail time in America is 100 days of jail time.

What ever became of '''twelthnite'''?

I'm still here boys!I posted a reply to the 911 banter on one of the message topics just a few days ago.As to my case still looking for an attorney to appeal my case on 1st Amendment grounds. With the latest Supreme Court decision on internet porn I hope more interest will be generated in cases involving censorship and the net.Until the day my case is over turned I will continue to pay my monthly probation handling fees with gritted teeth!

October 4th, 2005 If anyone tunes in to 'Jeopardy' today, they will find in 'final Jeopardy' ... This science-fiction novel published in 1953, ironically was first censored in 1967. _ And the answer/question is: What is "Fahrenheit 451?" _

And WHAT was the book about?????(LOL) I wonder how the censors reasoned out the purpose of banning the book in the first place. Picture two censors discussing the situation: First Guy: "This is bad! This is very, very bad! It goes on the BAD LIST!" Second Guy: "What's the theme? Too much violence? Is it morally repugnant?" First Guy: "No, it's about censorship and the banning and burning of books!" Second Guy: "Uh, wait...we may have a problem here..." (Both men scratch their heads and try to figure how they will justify banning the book. After a while, one says this "I've got it! We have to ban this book because we don't want others getting the same idea! We could lose our jobs!" "Uh...okay. What's next on the list?" "Catcher in the Rye. Probably some pervert book..." Writer's note: People like those described above need to get a life. A question for you here: What do you call it when someone writes a book without overt sex or excessive violence and the book gets banned? A classic.

In England, it is a hanging offense to rustle sheep. I did NOT make that one up. Although they abolished the death penalty in England, they forgot to take that one off the books. Source: British Author Geoff Nelder at geoffnelder.com
