Woodbury University to Host Conversation Between Filmmaker Frank Darabont and Author Ray Bradbury

BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- "The Green Mile" filmmaker Frank Darabont and "Fahrenheit 451" author Ray Bradbury will discuss their extraordinary careers and take questions from the audience during a Sunday, November 16 event at Woodbury University.
"An Evening of Conversation with Frank Darabont and Ray Bradbury" will be held Sunday, November 16 at Woodbury University, 7500 Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank. Darabont also will receive the university's Ray Bradbury Creativity Award, presented annually to an individual or organization judged by Bradbury and his committee to have contributed significantly to the universe of creative excellence.

A cocktail and buffet reception will begin at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. Cost is $50 per person for the entire evening or $25 per person for the program only. Proceeds benefit Woodbury University's Library Associates, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving library services.

Darabont is well known to movie audiences for his films "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile," both the nominated for Academy Award Best Pictures honors. Darabont collected Oscar nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for each film, as well as nominations for both films from the Director's Guild of America.

His most recent feature as director, "The Majestic," starring Jim Carrey, was released in December 2001. His next film as director will be an adaptation of Bradbury's classic science fiction novel "Fahrenheit 451." Darabont is also currently executive producing the Tom Cruise thriller "Collateral" and writing "Indiana Jones 4" for director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas.

Bradbury has published more than 600 short stories over a 60-year period and has written novels, screenplays, plays and poetry. His best known works include "The Martian Chronicles," "The Illustrated Man" and "Something Wicked This Way Comes." In 2000, Bradbury was awarded the National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters and Woodbury presented him with an honor doctor of letters in 2003.
