Why is it called "There will come soft rains"?

Refer to the poem by Sara Teasdale, selected and read by the mechanical house in the story. There is also a gentle rain occurring in the garden, but not substantial enough to counter what has happened to the world....

The wording of the poem really tells it all! The plot of RB's story parallels the theme of the poem perfectly.
