Gene Kelley and Cyd Charisse - what beauty they created. Brigadoon, another of my favorites. And then there was An American In Paris - and Leslie Caron. When will those days come again. |

| From today’s L.A. Times: Another passing happened on Christmas Day when "The Shadow" illustrator Edward D. Cartier, who also drew for classic science fiction, fantasy, mystery and pulp fiction works by such authors as Isaac Asimov and L. Ron Hubbard, died at 94. The World War II veteran earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star as an infantryman and machine gunner. The Chicago Tribune recently spoke to his son, Dean, who said, "He was one of the very last illustrators from the golden age of science fiction. ... He did over 800 illustrations for The Shadow and was still signing autographs [recently]."
