i have a question, and i'm not sure if it's answerable or not, but if there is an answer, i figure this is the placce to be. here goes: i know that in f451 it never states particular place setting, it's just a large city in the US, but, does anyone have any idea what that could be? has bradbury ever said? also, is there any more particular time period or is it just set in the vague future? i know this is probably too specific but any help would be appreciated (a lot) if anyone out there knows anything. if not, well, thanx anyway.

Other people here have read it more recently than I, but-- Place: Probably *not* Chicago, as Montag remembers having met his wife in Chicago, implying he was there "a long time ago," but not at the time the story takes place. Someplace where dandelions were rare, but not impossible, in October. Time: Some times are given as to when certain books were banned, which, as has been pointed out, don't necessarily jibe with other Bradbury stories into one consistent "censorship timeline." Please note (as the 1960s film did not) BOOKS, as in literature, were banned in Montag's society, not reading. People knew how to read--they just didn't draw any deeper, inner meaning from it.
