Dear Witchypoo,

I'd just like to thank you for your help on Farewell Summer. It wouldn't be what it is without you. I hope your having a grand autumnal Halloween season. My favorite time of the year starts now. You know, Festivus isn't too far off either. I also wanted to tell you how important I think it is to have Dandelion Wine put to film by the right person. All expedience and leverage should be used to get this project off the ground. This country needs Dandelion Wine now like The United States of the cold war era needed Old Yellow, or any of the other classics that came out of that period. I wish and hope to be able to take my family to see it in a theatre with soft technicolor beauty. One question that has been nagging me for some time, does the word "murmur" have any special meaning to your dad? The reason I am asking is that I consistantly run across it in a lot of his stories and now I am reading Farewell Summer, and already I have run into it six times. If you could ask him, that would be wonderful. If it is too much to ask, I fully understand that as well. Thank you again! Happy Halloween!!

Fare Thee Well,

Robot Lincoln

Thanks Robot - you got my check, then?

That's exactly how I have envisioned it - very soft pastels. Very 1920s. I would even toy with filming it in sepia tone (the studio would never green-light that!). I have very definite ideas for the cinematography of this film.

Now if I only had the money to option it!

I just hope and pray that some producer/studio combo with deep pockets and no love for the book (have they ever even read it?) don't get the option! Perhaps they have dollars in their eyes - I have love in mine.

Oh, the part about the check - that was an inside joke.

If you explained it, then it would be an outside joke, or more commonly referred as an "outy".

That reminds me of a scene on "The Beverly Hillbillies" when banker Drysdale said something to Jed whilst standing outside his front door. Jed questioned what he meant, and Milburn said "It's an inside joke". Then Jed swung open the door and proclaimed cheerily, "well, come on inside and tell it!"

I only meant that I had been trying to get the option, and your wonderful verbage sounded like a commercial for me (to those in the know).

So thanks!

Oh thanks. Now I feel stupid because it seems obvious. I'm having trouble typing because I went to the eye doctor and they did that irritating dilation. I love The Hillbillies! That is funny, I can hear Jed saying that. I really enjoyed Jethro Bodeen, he was so over the top. Regarding your vision on D.W., I can totally see those soft autumn hues and almost in my head hear the soothing soundtrack complimenting the story. I could relish that like you would a painting by one of the great master artists, absorbing it deeply. I truly hope you are the catalyst that makes the dandelion seed (of an idea) take flight in the wind! Keep shouting it to the world and hopefully the right people will hear you speaking. Wouldn't it be truly wonderful if it does get made by someone who actually read and loves it for the masterpiece it is.

Don't feel stupid. My humour is of a very bizarre type, and if you didn't get it that only means that you are normal!

I truly hope that, too!

Thanks for your kind words. I will keep shouting it until I have shouted it alive!

Doug and Robot: Just a note reference Max Baer Jr. who is still alive, and according to a co-worker lives in Hollywood, Florida. The Six Million Dollar Man is down here as well. As I understand it he lives in Ft. Lauderdale on the Intra Coastal.

Are you sure? Last I heard he was living in Lake Tahoe and about to open a casino there:
