The 1969 short subject Tattooed Steiger is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie The Illustrated Man. It features scenes from the movie and explains the design and application process of the special stencils used in creating the tattoos Steiger wears as the Illustrated Man. It was obvious what an arduous process this was and what patience he had to have to withstand it. Claire Bloom, Rod Steiger’s wife at the time, appears and they discuss aspects of the film. Author Ray Bradbury, who was a good friend of Steiger’s, looks in on the makeup process. Overall I found this film entertaining and informative. | |||
