Hey, Im doing a paper on style analysis of different authors and I was wondering if you guys could help me. What would you say would be characteristics of Bradbury's style that make him instantly recognizable when you read his work?

Gosh, this is an interesting topic. I envy you. I know that Bradbury's style is one of the main reasons I'm so attracted to his writing. It's poetic without being pretentious, it communicates abstract ideas with simple language, it engages our physical senses and our spirit.

At one time I began keeping a reading journal of Bradbury's stories and wrote down words and phrases that I found especially beautiful...but I gave up because I ended up transcribing so much of each story!

I'll be back with specifics. One more thing I do want to mention--I love the way Bradbury turns common nouns and such into verbs. I think it was Sound of Summer Running when he described how the boy could "rabbit" over a lawn in his new shoes. Lovely.

Also a note on his dialogue. It's not exactly a facsimile of real dialogue, I don't think. It's more stylized, but not in an overblown way--it's usually terse, dramatically so. I'll find some examples.
