Helen Loomis is the 95 yr. old "soul mate" of bachelor Bill Forrester. They meet at the soda fountain when she overhears Bill order "Old fashioned lime-vanilla ice..."
They talk for hours in the days to come. It becomes obvious they were meant for one another but are about 60 yrs out of synch. He promises not to die too old so they can cross paths again the next time around.

Helen Greer and Francine are friends of Lavinia Nebbs. Together they go to the movies across town. They have heard that the Loney One has returned. Crossing by the Ravine, Lavinia and Francine witness the investigation of the Lonely One's lastest victim, Elizabeth Ramsell. After the show, Francine remains the the most unnerved of the three ladies and is escorted home first. She runs up her stairs, slams the door closed and bolts it locked. Helen arrives home next and offers Lavinia a place to stay for the night - to no avail.
