Welcome, rwn68. I'm no expert on specific editions of books, but since no one else has come forward with an answer, I thought I might as well chime in. THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES was indeed first published in 1950, by Doubleday. If your copy says "1st edition" and "Doubleday" and was published in the US, then I would think it is a genuine first edition. I'm not sure what you meant when you said it had no dust jacket, but it looks like a 1958 cover. Here's what a first edition dust jacket looks like: http://www.charlesagvent.com/a...ges/items/011366.JPG There's a catalogue (possibly incomplete, possibly not 100% accurate) of different editions' covers here: http://www.goodreads.com/work/...e-martian-chronicles Does this help? If not, perhaps you could post some photos of your copy, and eagle-eyed board members might be able to help you further. - Phil Deputy Moderator | Visit my Bradbury website: www.bradburymedia.co.uk | Listen to my Bradbury 100 podcast: https://tinyurl.com/bradbury100pod

Another interesting source is the bibliography at The Internet Speculative Fiction Database: http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?21571
