Like THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES, RED MARS would be best suited for a series rather than a one-off film. Straczynski is a good choice - he knows the genre, and he knows how to maintain a long story arc.

(Then again, when THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES was adapted for TV, they got Richard Matheson to write it. Someone who knew the genre, and knew how to... Unfortunately, they got a fourth-rate director...)
