Ok, I've read the whole collection about 5 times but there are some stories I don't get and I can't find the sparknotes or whatever for them. Can anyone give me a play by play for:
1. The Dwarf ( does he die???)
2.The next in Line(ditto, only female)
3.The Jar (what on earth is in that jar)
4.Jack in the box (yeah...)

I know some of these are meant to leave you hanging but I don't get cliffhangers Smiler

Help please?

it only funny until someone loses an eye. Then HEY! FREE EYEBALL!!

"The Dwarf": You're not the only one mystified. The "sequel" in Nolan's "Bradbury Chronicles" had it that the dwarf grabbed the gun to commit suicide. Others said it was "obvious" he grabbed it to take revenge on his tormentor. Their line of thinking seems much more in line with Bradbury's. In the "Ray Bradbury Theater" episode, the dwarf shot a number of mirror images of his tormentor and was about to shoot the real one when Amy intervened with, "Don't bother with that one. He's been dead for years." So in that version neither died.

"The Next in Line." As far as I know, it's generally accepted interpretation that Marie died, though a kinder, gentler take is that she ran out on Joseph, bought a bus ticket, and headed out of town. Again, no certain ending here.

"The Jar." Yes, Charlie started out with a jar full of junk and ended up with his wife's head in there. "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" adaptation of this makes it quite clear.

"Jack-in-the-Box." Lovely illustration of the effects of isolation and brainwashing on a child. The reality his mother constructed was not in line with the outside world. Yes, the ending leaves you hanging--what DID become of that boy?

(Sequel ideas welcome, but post no fiction here, please!)
