Hi there,

I've recently purchased an original watercolour artwork signed Raymond Bradbury spring 1951. I only realized researching later that RAY BRADBURY dabbled in art in his younger days. It is a beautiful piece with rich colour and a mysterious feel to it.
I was hoping someone on this board with more knowledge of his art background could tell me if this could be a Ray Bradbury original.(fingers crossed)

I am sorry to tell you that Ray is Ray's actualy first name, not Raymond. There may be an artist named Raymond Bradbury but it is not RAY Bradbury.

I can tell that isn't Ray's style, his paintings have more minimal compositions.

I like that painting, crittifer. Given the many instances Mr. Bradbury has set various stories and poems and a essay on trains, one can well imagine him painting such a picture. In searching about trains and Ray Bradbury, I spotted this Bradbury oriented website that sells a picture similar to your painting called "A Carnival Comes to Green Town."

Similar question. A friend gave me a painting he acquired from an estate sale in Los Angeles. He said it was painted by Ray Bradbury. It’s an oil painting, and has a little damage at the bottom. It’s signed on the back, and it is titled “The Time Worlds of Santanafaraku.”

I’ve looked at his handwriting samples. This doesn’t look like kid normal writing. The signature is another story. I’ve posted the pictures on my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/10831...s/10213230998424523/

(Slight frame damage has wrinkled the bottom of the canvas and it has some marks on the front from storage that need cleaning.)

I can't read the name but the initials look like A D G.

Hi,
I have samples of Ray's handwriting back to 1939 and it does not match this writing. Actually, Ray's handwriting stays pretty much the same through the years.

Agreed, Mr Schab - I was a friend of Mr B and have dozens of books he signed for me. I've witnessed him sign perhaps hundreds of times. Definitely not his handwriting. Can't tell who it is.

Only the middle initial matches and as far as I know Ray never signed using his middle initial. Here is a montage of his signatures for comparison:
