Has there even been a TV or film adaption
of this story? It gave me chills the first time I read it.There was a graphic paperback
book from the 70's that I found the story in, as well as other stories by Bradbury. Did anyone else come across a similiar book? I have always been suspicious of babies to this day! Ha!

It was episode 12 of Ray Bradbury Theater (one of the few I've actually seen myself).

I have seen all of the Bradbury Theater episodes and must say this was one of the best. It totally captured the mother's feelings of panic and fear, and then her frustration when no one believed her and just assumed she was having some kind of breakdown. It was totally creepy and chilling.

I have or had that comic book, from the '60s: I think it was a paperback of a comic book version of The OCtober COuntry, or maybe another anthology? Maybe an EC comics book like The Crypt of Terror?

That was the 1965 paperback "The Autumn People," EC comics versions of "The October Country."

It was done on the radio in South Africa about 40 years ago. My dad and I listened in, while my mom was sleeping over with relatives. I'd never been so scared in my life!

The next morning, when my mom got home, she put down her handbag and the first thing she said was, "You won't BELIEVE what a scary story we heard on the radio last night!" The series was called "The Creaking Door" and the producer was Michael McCabe.

I only discovered it was a Bradbury story about ten years later.
