RIP Sir David Frost...with whom Ray Bradbury did NOT, in the end, celebrate the first Moon landing.

Yeah, on the news they were saying who-all he interviewed, and I thought, I know one he didn't....

Oh, no! That's horrible news!

Fred Pohl was the reigning grey eminence of science fiction. He had such an engrossing blog, too!

Another giant (and friend to Ray) has fallen.

Agreed.

My thoughts on the man: http://bradburymedia.blogspot....-pohl-1919-2013.html

And one of my photos of Fred and Ray:

Went looking for other photos from that event, and re-stumbled upon Doug Spaulding's Youtube clip of Ray talking to/about Fred Pohl (while I sit nearby wearing my customary fixed grin)...

The clip also shows jkt, Mr Dark and the late Nard Kordell.

For those who never saw it, here is Fred Pohl's posting on his own blog when he learned of Ray's passing last year..all the more poignant given the news of his death yesterday. (And the blog includes a follow-up comment by the Board's very own philnic.)

Mr. Pohl's life and works were at the center of discussions shared in a spring course I offered in the spring of '13 on Classic Sci-Fi and most influential authors:

An era is having its final magnificent pages turned - Ah - too soon!

Reading the post within Richard's link, RB and FP must now once again be sharing many wonderful tales...

Peace.
