TERRY PACE SUFFERS A STROKE

Received the terrible news late yesterday that our dear friend and colleague Terry Pace has suffered a major stroke, and has been admitted to a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, His wife, Anita, has flown to his bedside and is keeping a prayerful vigil. In a world filled with cruelty, cynicism, and hatred, Terry is a precious voice in the wilderness. One of Ray Bradbury's beloved "kids," Terry remains one of the kindest, most thoughtful writers and fans on the planet. We cannot afford to lose guys like Terry Pace for he is, in a word, a gentleman of the old school...a vanishing breed, to be sure. Please keep our dear friend Terry Pace in your thoughts, and in your prayers. We would, I fear, become painfully diminished without his gentle presence.

We met Prof. Pace in CA.in '09 and exchanged with him personally on occasion via topics initiated by the RB Board. He is a true gentleman and generous in his willingness to share his knowledge of RB and literature.

Our prayers are with Terry and his loved ones. May healing and comfort be his during this difficult time!

Fresh from his wife, Anita, as of two days ago:

Hi Everyone! Whew! What a day! Terry rocked his first day of therapy. We started bright and early this morning with Speech Therapy. Then on to Occupational Therapy....he dressed himself (for the most part), combed his hair & brushed his teeth. Then on to Physical Therapy where he surprised his therapist by walking the length of the hall WITHOUT a walker (just a bit of support for balance) and the mastered the stairs! After lunch and a short rest, we were back at it again! More OT, PT & ST!!!!

He's a fighter.

Terry is doing amazingly well in his recovery, and has a strong sense of survival. He is fighting this most courageously. Last Summer, before this tragedy befell him, Terry appeared in a new feature length documentary motion picture which is nearing completion. Here is our beloved Terry on camera during the Summer of 2013...

MINI-DOC INCORPORATING "MAN WHO 'SAVED' THE MOVIES"
RAW FOOTAGE: TERRY PACE & STEVE VERTLIEB:
TWO OF RAY BRADBURY'S "KIDS" ...

Presented WITHOUT it's opening seq. narration, "BRADBURY'S 'KIDS'" is a touching 14 min. mini-doc incorporating raw footage from our upcoming documentary feature STEVE VERTLIEB: THE MAN WHO "SAVED" THE MOVIES. During his lifetime beloved author Ray Bradbury (FAHRENHEIT 451, THE ILLUSTRATED MAN) was known for his love of family: his wife and children of course, but also his extended creative family including filmmaker Ray Harryhausen and publisher Forrest J. Ackerman. He'd later take under his wing, and become supportive of, a group of up-and-coming novelists, artists and writers who over time would affectionately come to be known as "Bradbury's Kids". Two of them - future educator / journalist Terry Pace (Dir. of Communications & Marketing - University of North Alabama) and future film archivist / journalist / historian Steve Vertlieb, would both share personal relationships with the legendary Bradbury, but wouldn't met ONE ANOTHER for many years.

In interview footage captured at 2013's "MONSTER BASH CLASSIC FILM CONFERENCE" in Mars, PA, Terry relates how he met Steve, and how they came to be known as two of "Bradbury's 'Kids'". - CEJ
