Judgment runs fast Judgment comes flying Judgment catches up And they don’t make Cream-Sponge Para Litefoot Tennis Shoes anymore... even in China
Fate lies in... now, not waiting Years pass that tow-head boy And scythes kiss the fields of Illinois

Welcome Jack!
I like good poems, and that's a good poem.
"Got to kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight" is one of my favourite lyrics ever. Bruce Cockburn - definitely in my "top 5 songwriters" list.
Pome is a good word (smiley face).

Thank you, Doug.
If you like Bruce Cockburn, you should try out two of my other favorites, John Gorka and Todd Snider.
Gorka is responsible for perhaps the most descriptive lyric of all time:
"He was born with a red hand in the cookie jar and a foot in Potter's Field."
This "Pome" (see John Prine), is part of a three part on Judgment, but the only one that references Ray.
I like Ray. Others I like are Roger Zelazny and Jack Vance.
Thanks again.

You've further impressed me - although I can't claim much familiarity with Gorka, I can say that Snider, and especially Prine, are two favourites. I told John when I met him after his performance recently in Santa Barbara as he signed my Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings album, "you're a better songwriter than Dylan." He said "thank you."
And his lyrics!:
"The wind was blowing, especially thru her hair."
"Many years later we found ourselves in Canada, trying to save our marriage, or perhaps catch a few fish. Whichever came first."
"You know what blood looks like in black and white don't you? Shadows!"
Now them is some great lyrics! Do you know what you are Mr Prine? You're a poet!
