The 2003 documentary An Unfathomable Friendship celebrates the lifelong bond between the science fiction masters author Ray Bradbury and special effects expert Ray Harryhausen. The two met as teenagers and, finding they had similar tastes and shared loves, vowed lifelong friendship.

The term “unfathomable” refers to their movie The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms as well as the depth of their friendship. The documentary is in the form of an onstage discussion between Bradbury and Harryhausen. They compliment each other perfectly and it is great to see the wonderful affection between these two outstanding gentlemen.

This program is a rare treat not to be missed.
