Rainy Planet With Domes?
Anyone remember the story with the soldiers on a planet where it rained continuously - they were looking for the domes which gave them protection from the rain - but they were broken when found? I read it in junior high school - about 35 years ago? Thanks. Janet

The story you are looking for is "The Long Rain." It appears in THE ILLUSTRATED MAN.

It's one of those stories of his that evoke images that WILL stay with you for 35 years!

Mr. Dark
It's definitely one of my favorite stories. The image of the guy drowning himself by holding his mouth open and leaning back is an image I remember from 30 years ago.

The story is also collected in "The Stories of Ray Bradbury", Knopf, 1980.

Yes I loved this story as well! I was wondering about the end of the story though, do you think the man that made it to the sun dome was hallucinating and died, or do you think he really made it?

Or was it really an arid desolate burning planet?

She stood silently looking out into the great sallow distances of sea bottom, as if recalling something, her yellow eyes soft and moist...
