Setting the record straight
I didn't come in here to cause major controversies. Once again, I am a long time fan of RB, and I have taught his work in my classes. I have been bashed repeatedly by several. They have tried to insult my views and categorize my teaching practice. Why? I never got nasty until Translator started imposing liberal views in a nasty way. Where I come from, we stand up for ourselves. I can sling it with the best of them, but I did not start it. Yet plenty criticize me, and few criticize Translator.

There is one place where I admit to being out of hand and that is in extreme criticism to el stevieboy and his writing for which I apologize. It gets increasingly hard to teach writing skills when the modern world (especially message boards and chat rooms) denounce proper writing as unimportant. Thus I took out some frustration on him.

My one big mistake was that I concluded that fans of RB would all be incensed by the Moore film. I still cannot believe there are supporters of it. Even if you loved the film, I challenge one person to deny the fact that it is nowhere near the art form that F-451 is. And once again, I know there is no legality in owning the words and all but the correlation is insulting and I respect Ray for standing up for his creation.

I encourage everyone to read the "Foresight of the 451 firemen" thread and tell me that I was the first one to become nasty in it.

pabillsman1,
Sorry if you feel that no one is siding with you against Translator. From what I've read, I have nothing against you. When the topics get too long winded and political, I tend to duck out, they just don't interest me. Social? Yes! Political? NO! See? That's probably why you've been alone. I disagree when you say that few criticize Translator. I think Nard, Mr. Dark, and Pterran have given some of the nicest rebuttals around, but I think we're all just tired of bothering. Personally, I just want to avoid the political type discussions.
Cheers! Groon

hey pabillsman, you dont have to apologize.

I usually write with a little better grammer usage than what I did in those first posts, but I was so angry that people were actually defending moore and calling bradbury insane that all that just went out the window.

I will never quit arguing with translator, because I refuse to let socialism and communism take over our country.

I love america and have served this country probably more than anyother person on this board. I love the freedoms I have here. I love being able to worship as I please without fear.

The only thing I have to fear in America is if people like translator, and gothic, and moore, and kerry take over this country.

pabillsman, and from reading some of your posts it sounds like you love America also, well if you do, I challenge you to never let these people win. we cant let them highjack our nation. its time to stand up to the united nations and tell them we wont be pushed around by them, its time to stand up for our freedoms pabillsman.

We have to preserve the freedoms we have for future generations.
God bless america!!!

El Stevieboy: No, it does not surprise me about translator being a liar.

Barren, Translator, is what your arguments are in reference to their amount of truth.

pabillsman1 & el stevieboy:

Your "mistakes," you are being rational, sound in conviction, and speaking as a fan of RB who simply wants to express ideas and enjoy the board. That was the tone of the vast majority of posts offered when this forum began and then evolved for well over 3 years. Now, especially in the past several months, the screaming and barbs you hear have actually become common place. It has just become so much overbearing "frabajaba." It's unfortunate since RB's life has never exhibited such tendencies and character.

pabillsman1: Being in the classroom, you are having a dynamic and lasting impression on the lives of hundreds of young people. That's real! Many here have commented on and been down the road to which you refer. It's like fingernails on the chalkboard, a piece of tinfoil on your back fillings, or a thistleweed grabbed erroneously.*

e s: As for this great land, take heart! Liberty is preserved by sacrifice, spirit, and purpose. There is certainly no shortages of any of these from coast to coast.

Maybe jealousy plays a role in all the fuss. Those bits of magnetic cyber-tapped particles hold no water compared to what you do daily - touch real lives. Isn't that what Mr. Bradbury's stories, lectures, and images have done for the countless well-intended who come here to exchange ideas and appreciations pertaining to his art? Share that with others and in your class. "Great Stuff!"

Oh, here's one more(*) http://webhome.idirect.com/~muskokajoe/lyric/skunk.html
