It appears that there are two kinds of people in the world (as they say, and never the twain shall meet): those who want to see equality for all humankind, and those who would prefer to see their personal religious dogmas imposed on (or followed by) all the others.

Non sequitur there, Dougster. It does not follow that if one is not a proselytizing member of some religon that he must then be an adherent to some Live and Let Live Brotherhood of Man philosophy. I'm surprised you'd make such a thoughtless statement. Witness gang members as one example. I've been wondering whether to jump into this discussion---probably not much point, because those who are participating have already made up their minds the subject, and are not about to change their opinions.

I usually disagree with just about everything Mr Thomas usually writes about! But in this case, I think he is SPOT ON. You get an AMEN here for Cal Thomas's article. Spread love and unconditional acceptance of other's beliefs, as long as they follow the Golden Rule, and there is no harm to another person from the pratice of your beliefs.
I think the correct path would be to de-emphasize the Evangelical and re-emphasize the Christian.
NOTE: There are right now (it's only 10AM) hundreds of people demonstrating against Proposition 8, that banned sam sex marriages, in front of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. As Rick Warren continues with the service.
