The Leave Taking...
Basil is cute! Is he perchance well-known in your part of the world?

Basil is a star! Most Brits know him, as he's been on TV since the early '60s (possibly longer). He used to have a Saturday evening family show, but is now relegated to children's TV.

He had a bit of a makeover a few years ago to make him a bit more soft and cuddly, but I prefer the original version. Here's a side-by-side comparison:

Wikipedia describes him as a "fictional anthropomorphic fox raconteur":

Okay, in that second picture he just looks rabid. Please make them stop this.

He's not rabid, just happy!

Fine. But I still wouldn't get too close, just in case.

At the risk of even further taking this thread off the path, I must say that this is probably the first time in the history of humankind that those four words have even been strung together.

Well, Google brought up about 3,440 results in 0.20 seconds, but they all seem to refer to Basil Brush. (Although I stopped after the first thousand or so hits.)
