Braling IIGreat list, Mr. Dark!
I could only add as Poe favourites "Some Words With A Mummy", "The Spectacles", "The Masque Of The Red Death", and "The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar".
As for Bradbury, I'd really have to think about it. There are just too many!

Doug SpauldingAnd they call him a sci-fi writer!
Mr B is almost exclusively horror and fantasy.

Mr. DarkThis is what is so interesting to me. I started with F451. While I read Something Wicked This Way Comes, I then read Martian Chronicles and short stories. I thought he basically just did sci=fi. Turns out he does a bit of everything. His horror stuff is great. His sci-fi is great. His mysteries are great. His fiction is great. His fantasy is great. He is truly amazing.

displaynameWhat about Bierce! He is as great as Poe, in my very very humble Argentine opinion. :-P Every single story of his is unforgettable.

Chapter 31“The Tell-Tale Heart” by Poe
“The Facts In The Case of M. Valdemar” by Poe
“The Small Assassin” by Bradbury
“Cool Air” by Lovecraft
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Irving
There are some good films to get you in the mood for Halloween and some great activities but there’s nothing better than a good spooky read in front of the fire—especially if it’s a windy night.

rocketI have a collection by Bierce but I have not read it yet. Wasn't he in the Civil War as well? Sometimes the bio of a writer is equally interesting. This Halloween I am reading, Farewell Summer, Frankenstein (Very interesting how she came up with it, and her bio is good too), Dracula, and I read a non fiction book on the Salem witch hunt and trials.
