In issue #97 of the fine U.K. film magazine SCREAM, there is an excellent seven-page article on the trials and tribulations involved in the making of the 1983 Disney version of Ray Bradbury's SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAS COMES. I still remember taking the afternoon off of work, and going to see the film at its first matinee showing at a theater in Niles, Illinois on the day it opened. I like the film very much, especially the performances of Jason Robards and Jonathan Pryce. Ray told me he thought the film was very good but not great. One interesting point in the article: Ray originally favored not only Christopher Lee for the role of Mr. Dark (a fact of which I already was aware), but also Peter O'Toole (probably best remembered for his brilliant performance as LAWRENCE OF ARABIA).
