The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit
Some interesting news, all - the National Hispanic Cultural Center (the site of my production of TWICS) has just received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to tour the show to at least two cities here in New Mexico, and possibly beyond. No details as yet, other than the fact that said tour must occur between August of this year and July of next. Details as they become known!

Reviving this thread to point to an online interview I found with Stuart Gordon, director of the Ice Cream Suit movie. I don't think he talks about that film in particular (I haven't watched all of the interview yet, so I can't swear to that), but he's interesting anyway.

If I could ask him a question, it would be "How does a specialist in modern horror movies come to be associated with The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit?"

Interview is here:

PHIL (philnic):
I occasionally run into Stuart Gordon at a Bradbury play. Next time I do I'll make sure I ask him your question...

Here's an old YOUTUBE video I took of Stuart with Ray after Ray talked with the fellow about the demise of the Los Angeles Times

philnic, long before Stuart Gordon became known as a horror film director as a result of THE RE-ANIMATOR, he directed plays here in the Chicago area. As Nard points out in his earlier March, 2003 posting (the second one in this thread), one of those plays he staged here in Chicago way back when was Ray's theatrical version of THE WONDERFUL ICE CREAM SUIT. He was a natural choice to direct the film, and I think we all agree that he did a terrific job.

Thanks, Nard and Richard. I can see the logic in Stuart Gordon directing The Suit - and he did it remarkably well. However, to have done it at that stage in his career is odd; some directors would have seen that as a risky undertaking.
