It is computed that eleven thousand persons have at several times suffered death rather than submit to break their eggs at the smaller end." F451, p. 68. Is this a reference to Swift's Gulliver and his discussion about the "Big Endians and the Little Endians?"

It doesn't seem like you and I have the same stuff on page 68 though.

If that's really in the book, then yes, it's from Swift. Ever read "A Modest Proposal?"

It's from Chapter IV (4) of "Gulliver's Travels."

I have missed the discourse about literature that I had with others. I am teaching an Honors English, and we are working on F451. Some of the aha moments are priceless for them and for me. Thanks for your responses.
