Bradbury Storytelling Festival in Waukegan
At long last the Waukegan Public Library has found a way to honor Ray Bradbury and his legacy to Waukegan. On Friday, October 20 at 7 p.m. we are hosting an event at the Genesee Theatre called "Something Wicked This Way Comes--the Ray Bradbury Storytelling Festival."

Ray gave us permission to use the name and asked us to host the event near his favorite time of year in Waukegan--Halloween.

Professional storytellers will interpret some of Bradbury's tales, in addition to other stories of the season.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday, September 8 at 10 a.m.) Ticket information can be found at http://www.bradburystorytellingfestival.org/tickets.html

The best part is that we are scheduled to do a interview with Ray next week on videotape--parts of which we hope to show at the Festival.

Thanks, Elizabeth! The important question for us fans is: will videotaping be allowed at the event?

We must abide by the rules of the Genesee Theatre which does not allow photos or video to be taken during performances.

Capture these important moments for posterity. Sneak in a small camera and be the very coward and criminal that you are. If caught, no doubt jail time and long banishment from Green Town. Furthermore, embarrasment by authorities able to inflict cruel and unusual emotional punishment. Long is the list of their venue for dissecting the innards of one imprisoned in their poisoned grip. Flee Flee. But not before snagging the wonderful blossoms of Bradbury prose finding flight in air.

Are the Genessee Theater presentations part of any larger event?

Thanks for pointing that out, Phil. I guess I thought this was a relocation of the postponed Florida event scheduled earlier, which was somewhat more elaborate.

No, this seems a fairly modest affair.

The last I heard, the Florida event (Mt Dora?) was postponed for at least a year. Our resident Floridian, biplane1, might know more about that one.

Today's Chicago Tribune included a very nice article on Ray Bradbury and the Storytelling Festival scheduled for this coming Friday in Waukegan. To read the article, click on the following link:
