Theodore Sturgeon was a writer Ray Bradbury admired very much. In fact, Ray wrote the introduction for Mr. Sturgeon's first book, a short story collection called WITHOUT SORCERY which was published in 1948.

A novella by Mr. Sturgeon about a killer bulldozer, "Killdozer", appeared in the November, 1944 issue of ASTOUNDING. A link to the cover of that issue appears below. It is the granddaddy of all of those stories and films about possessed motor vehicles. (Sometimes I think my own car qualifies. )

That novella was later made into a 1974 made-for-TV movie starring Clint Walker, for which Mr. Sturgeon co-authored the screenplay. It's not a great film, but it is entertaining. If you would like to watch it, it is available on YouTube. Just click on the link below.

Ray Bradbury and Theodore Sturgeon were mutual admirers. As noted above, Ray Bradbury wrote the introduction for Mr. Sturgeon's first book, WITHOUT SORCERY, which was published in 1948. A few years later, Mr. Sturgeon signed for Ray a copy of his 1950 novel, THE DREAMING JEWELS, in which he expressed his admiration for Ray's work, in particular, THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES.
