The Collected Stories of Ray Bradbury: Volume 3?
Although I didn't do the math, I did think eight seemed small.

Wow! That's great but I'm still trying to justify spending the money on Volume 2!

Well, considering how rarely the volumes come out, you're only spending $75 at most every 2-3 years. Not bad when you think about it, and I'd say worth every penny. If you keep your eyes out, sometimes you can find a seller on Amazon that has it for a bit less than the going price.

Very excited to hear about the pre-order, and I can't wait until May.

You can also preorder from Amazon.com. I think vol. 2 sold for $59 at the time of publication.

Amazon is listing the preorder for vol. 3 at $38.20 right now. That is 49% off!

And now we must begin to speculate when we will see Volume 4...

As I sit here gazing at the three volumes of The Collected Stories of Ray Bradbury on my bookshelf, I wonder again if there will be any news of the fourth. I've heard nothing in quite some time...anyone else hear anything?

Just in from The Center for Ray Bradbury Studies, in response to my Facebook inquiry:

"I have just checked with Jon Eller, the director of the Bradbury Center and editor of the Collected Stories series. At present, the series is on hold since the contract with the original publisher was for just the initial three volumes. Jon says "Our publisher was very supportive throughout the original three-volume arc, but we have not yet found a successor press willing to take on the demanding parameters of such a deeply archival exploration of the earliest forms of the Bradbury story canon.""

So, it looks things are on hold indefinitely regarding Volume 4 and beyond. I would say if you have not bought a copy of Volumes 1-3 yet, you should do so, because that could be the end of it.

I do so hope that they are able to continue the series at some point. The level of scholarly detail that has been put into these first three volumes is incredible, and what a tribute to Ray it would be if the full set of volumes one day saw print.
